elsa kawai

i've been keeping an eye of elsa kawai's flickr but haven't really browse through her website. so i finally did, and found lots of exciting stuff that i have to feature her on my blog post today!

so she's taking awesome photos, this is one of my favourites. you can either browse through to her flickr or buy the prints on her etsy shop.

other than that, she also designs pretty jewelry.

and meet oddzballz, her handcrafted characters design.

well, not only those of the above, elsa kawai is also a visual designer. check out her old website as well here. agh... all of these amazing stuff, she's just another inspiring have-it-all lady that i wish i could be one someday... *sigh*

stina persson

beautiful works by a swedish artist, stina persson!

how did you become an artist?
i've always been drawing, so to be able to do that for a living is so lovely.

how would you describe your art?
i use watercolours and inks. i'm striving to make it beautiful, but with an edge. the edgier, grittier part isn't so appreciated in the commercial world where everyone wants pretty, so unfortunately my work is often slicker than i'd like it to be.

what's the scene for an artist in stockholm?
i can't say i've ever belonged to any art scene, but when i lived in new york just breathing was inspiring. stockholm is calmer, more orderly and, of course, more homogenic. but i work in a studio with interesting people and have two cool boys and a great husband. that's my scene...

what inspires you to whip up something?
i work commercially, i whip it up for money, guess. sounds bad, right?

what's been the most fun project you've worked on?
any project when working with my friends, something that i always hope to do more of. last year i did a job for german squint magazine which was really fun, really free and, of course, unpaid.

favourite piece of art?
i started to buy pieves of art for my husband's birthdays. a collage by tobie giddio, a pastel by meri bourgard, a sixties print by a swedish painter (considered really bad taste at the time!) and a small hanging scupture made of driftwood by yuri shimojo. these are my favourites and i get to live with them!

where to from here?
more collaborations and hopefully getting better at what i do.

jessica sundojo is my lovely friend whom i met in high school. graduated as a bachelor of architecture, she's a very creative person and has interests in photography. glad that i can hang out with her again here in sydney! feel free to browse through her flickr or her new website that i've just finished :)

my dreamweaver knowledge is very limited hence this is just such a super simple website. if you have a chance to visit, please let me know what you think, i do really need your feedback!
