kareena zerefos

i'm loving this local designer kareena zerefos! her portfolio includes illustration, graphic design, photography and webdesign - all in one wonderful package. i love the vintage feeling, the simple and elegant style of her art. here is a short interview with kareena:

how did you get started?
like most people do, fingerpainting and sticking macaroni to paper plates in preschool. i guess i just didn't get over it, and i continued to make pictures - drawing, painting and taking photos.

what goes through your mind when you're drawing?
when i'm drawing for client projects, i usually start thinking 'oh shit, i should be working'. i guess i forget sometimes that i'm actually working when i'm drawing, i get a strange feeling of guilt 'cause i'm having fun.

you workin a few mediums - which do you enjoy most?
yeah. i do graphic design, illustration and photography mostly. at the moment i enjoy illustration the most. i think this is because i've developed a style that is really working for me at the moment... i also don't need to use many resources; any old pencil, biro and paper will do to start, so it's inexpensive.

what are you obsessed by at the moment?
puppies! they just make me melt. they have no effect on my artistic practices though, so i suppose that's irrelevant.

peter callesen

i know that lots of people have already had posted about peter callesen but i think his paper cut artworks are just extraordinary that i feel i have to keep spreading the words about him! he was also featured on crust station and that's hot, and a while ago i also saw an article about him on idN magazine. i think he really is the real edward scissorhands!

steve scott

welcome sweet september, it's really warm this weekend; spring is in the air! i went to powerhouse museum yesterday afternoon and found this brilliant animation video clip created by steve scott. above pics are images from suburban harmony video clip for telemetry orchestra (which apparently his band! and it's a great music too). discover the animation he has created at not to scale. he's one of the directors in this london based production company. (found the company's link via acuarela, which btw a good arty blog esp. for you who are interested in watercolour painting)

*updated: not as good quality as the one in not to scale but i just found the video at youtube!

a few other stuff, i also went to watch a funny movie thank you for smoking and have finally finished reading this historical novel the bird of venus, which is a story about the life, love and death of a daughter of a clothing merchant in florence. nothing much for today, i've had a nice sunday lunch at bills with my sister and a friend. yumm... i love dining out, i was thinking maybe i should start posting about good places to eat too?
