eveline tarunadjaja #2

last time i have posted about eveline tarunadjaja (see this post). for you who are curious to get to know more about her, here is my short interview with eve via email. enjoy reading!

how did you get started as an artist?
it has always been my little obsession. though started off by designing for a fashion label, i have always liked drawing, but never thought of pursuing it full-time. so when i lost my day job, i decided i should try it... see where it takes me.

what is your approach when you start an artwork? what inspires you?
i start with a piece of paper, a cup of coffee and cigarette in hand. do some rough sketches, usually the idea just kind of falls in places, sometimes without me realising it. if i like it, then i continue with pen for more details and patterns. i like absurdities, usually inspired with just about anything really, everyday life and boredoms. the whole she-bang.

describe your studio / working space.
i feel so lucky that the works are small enough to be taken everywhere. i never settled in one places. cafes and bars are always good, my desk is a tiny sit-on-floor type, sometimes the dining table got filled with all my junk and leftover paint. if i need to finish something, i just take it everywhere with me except when i shower.

describe what would be your ideal day?
sleeping in. good coffee. draw. nice food. listen to music. get paid. found a new inspirational artist's site. see some friends. get tipsy. talking inspirational non-sense. the order is interchangeable. i love doing nothing, doing nothing that's something.

current music on your playlist? does music influence your art?
new music that my friend, jesse wrote. just started getting into it. sean lennon and astrud gilberto otherwise. music is definitely influence my work. sometimes i love putting lyrics on my drawing. just like you get affected by listening to music, emotionally (or physically when you start dancing to it), as my works are very emotional and quite personal to me.

current projects you're working on at the moment?
learning how to paint properly. getting ideas for a tshirt label. personal group art project with some of my friends. it's ongoing, i'm still reliving holiday after being away for so long.

*thanks eve!*
